Give a Quid
Every season, Sunderland AFC dedicates a match to its official charity, Foundation of Light, with the aim of raising vital funds to support children and families across the region.
In April 2022, over £15,000 was raised to tackle poverty. One in three children in the North East live in poverty, with 75% of those having a parent / guardian who is in employment. More working families than ever before are falling below the poverty line because of the rising cost of living.
Through the Foundation's annual Give a Quid community fundraising campaign, fans are being asked to donate a pound at, and in the run up to, the dedicated games.
The campaign is supported by Sunderland AFC and supporter groups - the Red and White Army, Senior Supporters Association and SAFC BLC.
Your donations will make a difference
Whether it’s food, fuel or digital poverty we are here to help and support our communities.
Our Sport and Play, Health and Wellbeing, Education and Family Learning programmes are all designed to support the most vulnerable in society.
- £5 pays for a family to learn how to cook healthy meals on a budget
- £25 allows us to support an older adult with telephone befriending, activities and food parcel.
- £250 provides 25 children who are normally in receipt of free school meals with a meal and sports learning activities
As a Foundation at the heart of our communities, we are here to help the most vulnerable get the support they desperately need. Whether it’s delivering food parcels, teaching families how to cook healthy meals on a budget, telephone befriending or providing free access to IT equipment, we are working with partners to provide critical services to thousands across Sunderland, South Tyneside and County Durham.
