Beacon to host Adidas Tournament

Foundation of Light has teamed up with sportswear giants Adidas to host a youth football tournament at the Beacon of Light later this month. The FREE 5-a-side competition will be staged at the world-class sports venue for the first time, bringing together under 17 and under 18 teams (for the 2018-19 season) from across the North East. Adidas will also be giving one lucky player the chance to WIN a boot deal for the coming season* at the tournament on Saturday 28th July 2018 (10.30am-12.30pm). SAFCFoL Community Club U17s were named 2017 winners, overcoming seven other teams to lift the inaugural title. The Foundation's Football Scholarship coaching and education teams will also be on hand to give players more information about the programme which is recruiting for the new season.

We are delighted to be hosting the Adidas Foundation Fives Tournament for the second year running. Last year was a resounding success with over 60 players competing. The tournament is a fantastic opportunity for players to show off their skills, learn more about our Football Scholarship and, of course, win a boot deal with Adidas. We look forward to welcoming all players and their clubs in what should be another very successful tournament.

Teams will be placed into group stages with matches played on the Beacon's outdoor pitches with the top two from each progressing to the knockout stages in the facility's state-of-the-art 4G rooftop football barn. *The winning player will be entitled to three pairs of Adidas boots throughout the season.
