Football Programmes

Football is at the heart of what we do.

For over 20 years we have been delivering football programmes across Sunderland, South Tyneside and County Durham helping tens of thousands of children and adults enjoy the game and live a healthier lifestyle.

We have lots of opportunities to get involved in the beautiful game, so no matter what your age or standard, there's something for you at the Foundation.

Little Dribblers

Little Dribblers is a fun introduction to football for 18 months to 5 years and an ideal choice for parents who want to give their children a healthy and active start in life.

Little Dribblers with Parents

A unique and innovative Early Years football programme, ‘Little Dribblers’ is designed to engage young children aged 18-month to 3 years old in the beginning of their football journey, focussing on dribbling, movement skills and co-ordination.

Skills Centre

Skills Centre is for children aged 5 to 7 years and familiarises children with the building block techniques of football, such as dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting.

Weetabix Wildcats Football Centre, run in partnership with the FA, gives girls aged 5-11 regular opportunities to play football and take part in organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment.

Emerging Talent Centre (ETC)

Sunderland Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) will be launched for the 2023-24 season, and will be incorporated into our already strong player pathway, beginning at our Wildcats sessions, progressing into our Player Development Programme.

Foundation Community Club

The Foundation Community Clubs offer young people aged six upwards the chance to become part of a team. Run by volunteers, teams train weekly and play in organised football competitions as part of the Russell Foster Youth League.

Walking Football

Taking place at the Beacon of Light, walking football is a great way for over-55s to keep active. The rules are running and have fun!

Player Development Centre

The Player Development Centres are invite only for boys and girls who have shown promising skills and commitment through Foundation of Light’s Open Trials, Schools, Evening and Weekend or Holiday programmes and invited to attend advanced weekly coaching sessions.
