Family Fun Day - Everything you need to know

There's not long to go until Foundation of Light's Easter Family Fun Day and we're looking forward to welcoming you all to the Beacon of Light for a day full of fun.

When is Family Fun Day?

Foundation of Light Family Fun Day takes place on Friday 5th April from 10am to 3pm. The event will be split into various time slots between these times to manage capacity.

Where will Foundation of Light Family Fun Day take place?

Beacon of Light, Stadium Park, Sunderland, SR5 1SN

Does the event cost to attend?

Tickets for Family Fun Day cost £2 as a donation to Foundation of Light, with a wide range of free activities available upon entry.

Who needs a ticket for the event?

Any person attending needs a ticket for Family Fun Day, including adults, Children aged Under 2 years old do not need a ticket.

Can I buy tickets on the gate?

Tickets must be booked in advance via Eventbrite >

Are tickets still available?

The event is now sold out. Apologies to anybody who has missed out.

Who is Family Fun Day for?

Everybody is welcome at Foundation of Light Family Fun Day.

Where will I be able to park?

You can park for free using the Stadium of Light’s green or blue car parks. For more information on getting to the Beacon head to: How to find us >

Can I reach the Beacon of Light on public transport?

There are regular bus services to and from Stadium Park, with a bus stop outside the front entrance to the Beacon. We are also based just a few minutes’ walk away from the Stadium of Light and St Peter’s (the closest of the two) Tyne and Wear Metro stops.

Is there disabled access?

Yes, the Beacon of Light is fully accessible with lifts at the front and rear of the building.

Will I be able to bring a pushchair?

Pushchairs are welcome. We are designating the area between the main entrance and indoor arena viewing gallery to store pushchairs at your own risk.

Are there indoor activities?

The wide-ranging activities will be hosted throughout the Beacon of Light both indoors and outdoors. However, if weather conditions are unsuitable, outdoor activities will also be moved indoors.

Do I need to book the activities?

Most activities are free to join in with no need to book in advance, with the exception of Biscuit Decorating and the Samson Penalty Shootout. For these activities, you will be given the opportunity to book a time slot upon arrival.

Will there be refreshments available?

Local food vendors Fire & Dough and Tiger Grill are joining us on the day, as well as an Ice Cream Van. The Beacon of Light café will be running a limited drinks and cakes service. There are also vending machines near the main entrance and outside the indoor arena. 

Do I need to bring cash?

Activities are free upon entry, however we have chances to enter raffles and win prizes on site, as well as refreshments. Cash is preferred but card will also be accepted by a number of vendors.

Will Sunderland AFC players be in attendance?

Although Sunderland players have attended previous events, player visits cannot be guaranteed due to training and match schedules.
