FAQs: Play on the Pitch

FAQs: Play on the Pitch

Will there be any more slots opening?

There will be no more time slots opening for Foundation of Light’s Play on the Pitch. Sunday 31 May is the Foundation’s dedicated day for Play on the Pitch, and we have aimed to cater for as many as possible on the day.

What is included in the day?

Children will be given an unforgettable experience of playing in a big stadium, including a pitchside photograph, a chance to run out of the tunnel, and a commemorative certificate. Parents/carers are welcome to spectate in the West Stand and discounted refreshments are available from the Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine Café during drop off and pick up.

What does my child need to bring?

Children will need to bring their own playing kit, including boots and shin pads. A jacket is advisable in case of bad weather. Refreshments including a water bottle are also advised, although discounted refreshments are also available from Yard Nine.

Where do I drop off and pick up my child?

Drop off and registration will take place at the Beacon of Light before the groups head to the Stadium of Light. Registration slots will open 30 minutes before your child’s allocated playing time. Please arrive early so we can ensure your child gets maximum time on the pitch. Children will head back to the Beacon of Light for pick up from parents/carers and will be chaperoned by coaches both ways to the Stadium of Light and back. Parents will make their own way to and from the Stadium of Light.

Will I receive a confirmation email after I book?

You should have received a confirmation email thanking you for your order after completing booking. Please give 48 hours for this to come through and remember to check spam folders. If you have still received no confirmation after this time, contact Foundation of Light at: info@foundationoflight.co.uk. You will also receive an information email in the days prior with everything you need to know in relation to the day.

How can I watch my child play?

Spectators are welcome to watch from the Stadium of Light’s West Stand which they can access via the Stadium of Light’s main reception. Parents must remain in this stand throughout the duration of the event. Stewards will be on hand to support with any queries throughout the day.

Can I take photos of my child on the pitch?

Feel free to take photos from the stand, but please keep in mind potential photo consent issues with other children taking part. Each child will receive an individual photo at the side of the pitch and some photography of the games will be carried out by Foundation of Light photographers.

How long will they be playing on the pitch for?

Time on the pitch should be around one hour. Please arrive early for registration to ensure your child gets the maximum possible playing time.

Will photos or videos be taken?

Yes, each child will receive an individual pitchside photograph. These will be uploaded to a Facebook album on Foundation of Light titled with each time slot, so look through your child’s time slot to find their photo. Some photography will also take place during the matches by the Foundation of Light’s photographers, but these are not guaranteed to include every child.
