Special Christmas Appeal in Support of Wear One Campaign
Foundation of Light, the official charity of Sunderland AFC, is delighted to reveal details of a special Christmas appeal as part of the Wear One campaign.
A new and exciting Ultra Violet football session for girls aged 11- 16 years is being launched by SAFC charity Foundation of Light, with funding from the Premier League.
Delivered as part of the Premier League Girls’ programme, the sessions offer a fun introduction to football as well as a chance for more practiced players to polish their skills and meet other players.
Participants wear face paint and neon bibs for the event which, combined with UV lighting, creates a vibrant playing environment that’s ideal for boosting confidence and fitness.
Helen Byrne, Primary Starts Events Coordinator at Foundation of Light said “UV football is great fun and, thanks to the backing of the Premier League, we are proud to be able to offer it for free. Over the last few years we’ve experienced a real growth in the number of girls and women wanting to play football and this is a great opportunity for those people to come along and get involved.”
Foundation of Light is one of the leading football foundations in the country for female sport and earlier this year hosted the first regional girls’ UV football tournament which included teams from Middlesbrough and Hull.
Sessions will start Monday 11th September and will take place at Monkwearmouth Academy’s indoors sports hall 6-7pm.
