Sunderland AFC’s official charity, Foundation of Light are hosting an information evening for people to find out more about the 2020 International Cycle Challenge.
Since the start of the challenge over £300,000 has been raised for community programmes helping local people in the region.
Starting at 6pm on Thursday, 21st November at the
Beacon of Light, the information evening is open to anyone interested in taking part in the ride.
Guests will learn details of the route, including next year’s host country and what is needed for the trip.
Previous Cycle Challenges have seen the team ride from Dublin to Sunderland; across Italy from Pisa to Venice; commemorating the 70th anniversary of World War Two by cycling 320 miles from Brussels to Paris; travelling coast to coast in the Atlantic to Mediterranean challenge and most recently Switzerland to France.
Earlier this year a team of 40 cyclists, led by SAFC legend Marco Gabbiadini, rode from 280 miles from Geneva to Mulhouse taking in some breath-taking scenery along the route.
We have started to plan for next year’s challenge and have already received enquiries from people who are interested in taking part. At the end of the challenge people ask where to next year? I am looking forward to releasing the route in the next few weeks and I know cyclists will be excited.
