LIONESSES ACADEMY FOR TEENAGERS
Sunderland AFC charity Foundation of Light is giving young females an opportunity to broaden their knowledge, develop their skills and experience in football across a number of workshops delivered in partnership with Durham FA. The Lionesses Academy is a new programme aimed at females aged 14-16 years who are interested in developing their leadership skills. Throughout the four workshops, the teenagers will complete an FA Basic Football Referee course. Participants will be required to attend each workshop which takes place 6-9pm at the Beacon of Light on Thursday 16th January, Thursday 27th February, Thursday 2nd April and Thursday 25th June. Priced at £15, attendees will receive a Nike training top and a potential coaching bursary of £50 on completion of the course. The Foundation of Light has a strong Female Talent Pathway, which engages over 1,000 girls every year through Sunderland Regional Talent Club and Football Scholarship programmes, both of which have provided a platform for many players to make their mark on the pitch on a national and international level.
