Music legend Jason Donovan to headline Gala Awards Dinner

Superstar performer Jason Donovan will headline Foundation of Light’s Gala Awards Dinner, at the Beacon of Light, later this year.

The event - a highlight in the charity’s calendar - celebrates the impact the Foundation has made to the lives of those across the region, while raising funds to help make sure that work can continue.

The Australian actor and singer will be introduced to the stage by Sir Tim Rice, a Foundation Trustee, following a showcase of inspiring stories from children, families and adults who have overcome adversity.

Taking place on Thursday 30 November, Sir Bob Murray CBE, Steve Cram CBE, George Clarke and Sunderland AFC stars and legends are just some of the special guests who will also be in attendance at the Gala Awards Dinner.

Following a chart-topping music career and 13 million album sales, Jason’s passion for acting and theatre led to a natural transition to what was to become one of his definitive roles – Olivier-nominated portrayal of Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ at London’s Palladium, for a sell-out 18-month run.

The show produced a number one single and best-selling album and set up one of the most successful revivals of all time.

Jason is still selling out venues with greatest hits tours and most recently starred in ‘Grease the Musical’ in London’s West End.

Speaking about his performance at the Beacon, Jason said: “I’m really looking forward to performing at such a venue and celebrating the work done by Sunderland AFC’s charitable arm. It’ll be a great occasion!”

Sir Bob Murray CBE, Foundation of Light’s chair of Trustees added: “We are honoured to have Jason Donovan joining us to perform at what is a true highlight of the Foundation’s calendar.

“It is already a very special evening for the award winners, and everyone associated with the Foundation - having Jason in the line-up makes it extra special.

“The awards evening gives us a chance to not only reflect, but also celebrate our amazing participants, partners and donors for their continued support and belief in what we do.”

Gala Awards Dinner will take place on Thursday 30 November at the Beacon of Light.

Tables of 10 are available from just £1,750 plus VAT with individual tickets also on offer. Tickets include a VIP drinks reception and three course awards dinner.
