North East Parkies United reflect on cup triumph at St George’s Park
North East Parkies United players are ‘bursting with pride’ after winning the Cure Parkinson’s Cup at St George’s Park.
Helen McArdle CBE was truly one of a kind - a woman whose kindness, generosity and quiet determination left an enduring mark on so many lives, not least here at the Foundation of Light.
Helen wasn’t just a supporter of our work; she was a dear and trusted friend. She believed deeply in the power of community, in giving people opportunity, and in helping others to see their own potential.
Through her unwavering support, alongside the incredible generosity of the McArdle family, she helped us reach further, dream bigger, and make a lasting difference to countless individuals and families across Sunderland and beyond.
Her legacy is not only measured in what she gave, but in what she inspired. Because of Helen, lives have been changed, futures have been shaped, and hope has been created where it was needed most. That is something truly special - and something that will continue for generations to come.
Those of us who had the privilege to know Helen will remember her warmth, her humility, and her genuine care for others. She had a way of making people feel valued and heard, and her presence brought both comfort and strength.
We are profoundly grateful for everything she has done for the Foundation of Light and for the community we serve. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
Our thoughts are with the McArdle family at this incredibly difficult time. We hope they take some comfort in knowing just how much Helen meant to so many people, and the extraordinary difference she made in the world.
With heartfelt thanks, respect and love, Helen will never be forgotten.
