SAFC DUO INSPIRE JUNIOR PLAYERS WITH TESCO BANK
Sunderland AFC players George Honeyman and Charlie Wyke recently visited pupils from St. James RC Primary School taking part in the Tesco Bank Junior Players programme led by Foundation of Light. Attending to celebrate the launch of the programme, 2018/19 Captain Honeyman and forward Wyke joined in with the session to the delight of the pupils. Tesco Bank Junior Players is a flagship community coaching programme jointly led by the Foundation of Light, Newcastle United Foundation and Newcastle Eagles Community Foundation. The programme gives school children in the region the opportunity to get fit and active by taking part in physical activity, receiving expert tuition from highly qualified coaches. Sunderland AFC Captain, George Honeyman said: “It’s so nice to come out and see all these energetic kind kids taking part in the session that the Foundation has put on in association with Tesco Bank.” The two players were put into teams and went head to head after taking part in a selection of small sided games.
“Thanks to the support of Tesco Bank we’re able to deliver even more sport in schools and, as you can see all the children’s faces today, they really enjoyed it.” “George and Charlie have been great this afternoon, really getting into the spirit of things, and these youngsters will remember this for a long time.”
