Scholarship: Open Trials this Easter
Foundation of Light is hosting open trials for its trophy-winning Football Scholarship during the Easter holidays ahead of the 2018-19 season. FREE to attend for boys and girls currently in Year 11 and 12, the trials are the perfect opportunity for youngsters to showcase their footballing ability with the hope of being recruited onto the programme from September. Players will be given an insight into how their training can be taken to the next level through sessions led by the Foundation's expert coaches at the state-of-the-art Academy of Light which will assess their technical ability, teamwork and knowledge of the game. Successful trialists will represent Sunderland AFC in the National Football Youth League while studying towards qualifications which will help them pursue a career in coaching or within the sports industry. Scouts from Sunderland AFC will also be present, offering hopefuls the opportunity to join the Black Cats' Academy set-up. This season has seen Scholars sign for Premier League and National League clubs as well as representing England at youth level, while every graduate who applied for a place at university has been given an unconditional offer.
