School days at the Beacon of Light
Foundation of Light is offering local primary and secondary schools the opportunity to enhance their pupils' learning at the world-class Beacon of Light. The £20 million community facility officially opened its doors earlier this year to light up thousands of lives through sport, health, education and the world of work. Using the North East's passion for football and the Sunderland AFC as a hook, the Beacon and Foundation will bring subjects to life in key curriculum areas such as maths and English as well as PE, PSHE and business and enterprise.
We are delighted to offer our 'Day at the Beacon of Light' provision to primary and secondary to help support their children’s classroom learning. Each school will be able to tailor their day from our programmes and subjects, making for a bespoke and exciting experience for their pupils and staff.
David Dowson, Sport and Play Coordinator
Schools will be presented with two options – over a half or full day – allowing them to structure their day to meet their needs. A tour of Sunderland AFC's 49,000 capacity Stadium of Light will also be included in the package.
If your school is interested in this great opportunity, require more information or would like to come and view the Beacon of Light beforehand, call 0191 5634743 or email david.dowson@foundationoflight.co.uk.
