Sunderland AFC anniversary warm-up shirts up for auction in support of Foundation of Light
The limited-edition shirts were worn by the Black Cats ahead of their Premier League fixture against Leeds United on Foundation of Light Matchday.
A team of student volunteers who have been supporting the Foundation of Light’s holiday programmes have been recognised as the latest Wear 25 award winners.
Throughout its 25th anniversary year, the Foundation of Light has been recognising individuals who are making strides through its varied programmes, celebrating personal achievements, development and positive contributions to the community.
The student volunteers played an important role in the delivery of the Foundation’s summer holiday programmes, supporting coaches across a busy schedule of activities and helping to create positive experiences for young participants.
Working alongside Foundation staff, the students quickly established strong relationships with the coaching team and demonstrated their ability to engage with participants, offering support and encouragement throughout the sessions.
Their contribution did not go unnoticed, with Foundation coaches particularly impressed by their adaptability, enthusiasm and professionalism.
Many of the volunteers returned during the October half-term holidays, continuing to build on the experience they had gained over the summer while further developing their coaching skills and confidence.
Their involvement has not only provided valuable experience for the aspiring coaches, but has also helped the Foundation deliver a varied programme of activities, giving young people opportunities to stay active, learn new skills and enjoy their school holidays.
The Wear 25 recognition celebrates the positive impact the students have made, both through their own development and the support they have provided to others.
