Regional Talent Club

Sunderland RTC is historically one of the best Tier 1 status FA Regional Talent Clubs in the country. Managed and delivered by the Foundation of Light with support from Durham County Football Association the RTC competes in elite competitions against clubs such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.

The programme is part of the Foundation of Light and the England Lionesses’ female football development pathway

Over the years Sunderland RTC has helped develop some of England’s biggest talents such as Steph Houghton and Jill Scott, as well as current SAFC Ladies players such as Keira Ramshaw, Neve Herron and Jess Brown to name a few.

The RTC is invite only and players can access the programme through recommendations or trials.

Teams: Currently Sunderland RTC operates Under 11, Under 12, Under 13/14 and Under 15/16 age groups

Training Nights: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday

Matchdays: Saturday

Venues: Beacon of Light, Downhill Hub, Ford Quarry


When I was younger I was the only girl of my age playing football and it often became a bit competitive. Playing alongside girls at Sunderland RTC, not only helped me develop as a player but also as an individual too.
