New mental health drop-in sessions offer friendly support
People across Sunderland are being invited to access free, welcoming mental health drop-in sessions delivered by Foundation of Light's Game of II Halves programme.
Supporters are being invited to play their part in a special milestone, as Foundation of Light celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026.
Working alongside Sunderland AFC and official kit partner Hummel, the Foundation will release a limited-edition commemorative shirt – and fans can help decide what it looks like.
Four unique designs have been created to mark the occasion and supporters can now vote for their favourite, with the winning design set to go into production.
Everyone who casts a vote will also be entered into a prize draw to win the final shirt, giving fans the chance to own a piece of Foundation history.
The selected design will be available to purchase ahead of the Foundation’s official birthday month this November, as part of wider celebrations recognising a quarter of a century of using football as a force for good across Sunderland and the North East.
From supporting thousands of young people and families each year, to creating opportunities through sport, education and wellbeing programmes, the Foundation has spent 25 years making a difference in local communities – and now supporters can be part of the story.
Foundation of Light Chief Executive Lesley Spuhler said: “This is a special moment for the Foundation, and we wanted to mark it in a way that brings supporters with us. There’s no better way to do that than by giving fans a say in the final design.”
