Girls' Academy kicks off

Girls' Academy kicks off
A brand-new pathway that will help talented female footballers develop their game kicked off this past week. The Foundation of Light Girls' Academy provides the opportunity for talented girl football players to experience a high-performance sporting environment on a day release programme. The girls enjoyed their first session at the Beacon of Light, where they had training sessions, lessons in the classrooms and then back onto the pitches to work on techniques. The sessions focus on supported independent learning, to develop self-confidence, teamwork and communication. The aim of the Girls' Academy is to help female athletes aged 12-16 manage the challenges of a dual career in performance sport and education.
