New Workshops to Help Fans Kick the Habit

New Workshops to Help Fans Kick the Habit

In an effort to help the people of Sunderland quit smoking for good, the Beacon of Light will host new Stop Smoking Workshops in partnership with Sunderland City Council.

The three-month initiative is designed to support individuals on their journey to quit smoking, these workshops will take place twice a week and form part of the Foundation of Light's continued commitment to improving community health and well-being.

Workshop details:

45 minutes of discussion and support, followed by health and fitness activities. The workshops will run at the following times:

  • Thursdays: 5-6:30pm
  • Fridays: 10-11:30am

These sessions provide a welcoming and supportive environment for participants to explore strategies for quitting smoking, receive expert advice, and improve their overall physical and mental health.

Additional support

To ensure accessibility, Sunderland AFC's official charity will also host a weekly drop-in session every Tuesday at the Beacon of Light between 2.30-3.30pm. There will also be a dedicated stall in all home matchday Fan Zones, where individuals can seek advice, resources, and support at their convenience.

This initiative builds on the Foundation of Light’s longstanding partnership with the Sunderland Stop Smoking Service and their collaborative Kick the Habit programme. The three-month project highlights the shared mission to combat smoking and promote healthier lifestyles in the Sunderland community.
