Community Captain Bobby honoured by Sunderland Legend Kevin Ball
Premier League Kicks volunteer Bobby Byers was presented with the Premier League Community Captain award by Sunderland AFC legend Kevin Ball.
In an effort to help the people of Sunderland quit smoking for good, the Beacon of Light will host new Stop Smoking Workshops in partnership with Sunderland City Council.
The three-month initiative is designed to support individuals on their journey to quit smoking, these workshops will take place twice a week and form part of the Foundation of Light's continued commitment to improving community health and well-being.

These sessions provide a welcoming and supportive environment for participants to explore strategies for quitting smoking, receive expert advice, and improve their overall physical and mental health.
Additional support
To ensure accessibility, Sunderland AFC's official charity will also host a weekly drop-in session every Tuesday at the Beacon of Light between 2.30-3.30pm. There will also be a dedicated stall in all home matchday Fan Zones, where individuals can seek advice, resources, and support at their convenience.
This initiative builds on the Foundation of Light’s longstanding partnership with the Sunderland Stop Smoking Service and their collaborative Kick the Habit programme. The three-month project highlights the shared mission to combat smoking and promote healthier lifestyles in the Sunderland community.
