North East fans win as hundreds raised for Together Through Sport
Fans from across the North East are celebrating after being named winners in the Together Through Sport prize draws.
Sunderland AFC legend Niall Quinn has called for the community to support the Together Through Sport campaign.
Together Through Sport is uniting the North East’s major sports foundations to tackle child poverty and ensure every child gets the chance to play, grow and thrive.
The collaboration between Foundation of Light, Newcastle Eagles, Durham Cricket, Newcastle United Foundation and others has already raised thousands of pounds to help more young people access sport.
Showing his support for the campaign, the former Black Cats player, manager, and chairman said: “Sport should be for every child, not just the lucky few.
“That’s why Together Through Sport is so important. Across the North East, the sports foundations are coming together to make sure no child is left on the sidelines.
“If you can, please support the campaign and help give a young person the chance to play.”
Together Through Sport is part of a wider ambition to establish the North East as the UK’s first Region of Sport, using the power of clubs and community organisations to create real opportunities for local people.
Every donation helps provide free and subsidised sessions for young people who might otherwise miss out.
