Sky Sports' Tom White hosts a special Foundation of Light charity-talk-in to recognise International Men’s Day.
He chats with ex Black Cat Matt Piper in an effort help raise awareness of men’s well-being.
The former winger chats candidly about his struggles after injury cut short his promising football career and encourages anyone who is suffering in silence to speak out.
Piper, who has recently released a book documenting his battle, discussed how his life spiralled out of control after retirement with Tom, who is also raising awareness for men’s health by taking part in Movember.
The presenter’s moustache effort didn’t go unnoticed by Piper – who was also pleasantly surprised by a piece of memorabilia that Tom still had!
The talk-in is a great platform to raise awareness of the work the Foundation does to support mental well-being.
The Be A Game Changer programme, puts football rivalry aside to work in partnership with Newcastle United Foundation in an effort to change the perception of mental health issues.
It encourages supporters to look after their mental health just as they would their physical health.
Be A Game Changer can signpost individuals to services for mental health support and offers grassroots workshops and training days to businesses.
