Sir Bob Murray says thank you to Foundation of Light volunteers
The former chairman of Sunderland AFC stopped by a volunteer meeting to say thank you to those who give their time to support the work of the club’s official charity.

Roger Thompson, Store ManagerThe donation will provide 20 businesses, grassroots clubs or individuals with workshop sessions and a toolkit, on how to improve and spread mental health awareness. Since lockdown in March 2020, the Foundation of Light have delivered 1,500 food and care packages to those self-isolating and provided activity packs to keep them engaged during lockdown, created 15 new online programmes, to support those on furlough or have recently been made unemployed, over 8,500 people engaged in weekly fitness challenges on YouTube. Sainsbury’s North will continue to support the Foundation of Light in 2021 as it celebrates its 20th birthday.

A highlight among the Foundation’s delivery calendar, the summer programme of holiday courses features five weeks of varied activity to keep children active and engaged during the school holidays.
The ‘Play on the Pitch’ day with Sunderland AFC’s official charity allowed children aged 3-14 to experience playing in a Premier League stadium and make memories that will last a lifetime.
