Azeem's Journey: From refugee to volunteer
Azeem Iftikah came to the Foundation of Light to help settle in the UK after arriving as a refugee, but he is now an integral part of the Wear Together sessions at The Venue in Stanley.
Sir Bob Murray will join SAFCSA London Branch for a talk-in event at Southwark Brewing Company on Friday 27th September.
The event gives SAFC supporters from further afield a chance to hear from the former Sunderland AFC Chairman after the launch of his autobiography – I’d Do It All Again.
From the terraced streets of 1950’s Consett where he left school with just one 'o' level, to boardroom battles at Roker Park and the building of the Stadium of Light, Sir Bob will be sharing stories from his life with Sunderland AFC.
Supporters can take advantage of a special offer which gives entry to the event and a signed copy of I’d Do It All Again for just £20.
The price for entry alone is £10, tickets are available exclusively online on a first come basis via: weardownsouth.com
All proceeds from the evening support the Foundation of Light, Sunderland AFC’s official charity, in their work with up to 20,000 young people and families every year tackling some of the region’s most important issues.

Azeem Iftikah came to the Foundation of Light to help settle in the UK after arriving as a refugee, but he is now an integral part of the Wear Together sessions at The Venue in Stanley.
The former chairman of Sunderland AFC stopped by a volunteer meeting to say thank you to those who give their time to support the work of the club’s official charity.
A highlight among the Foundation’s delivery calendar, the summer programme of holiday courses features five weeks of varied activity to keep children active and engaged during the school holidays.
