Olympic medallist and world champion athlete Steve Cram CBE will be the guest speaker at a conference to demonstrate the importance of physical education in primary school curriculums.
Taking place at the state-of-the-art Beacon of Light on Thursday 14th March (3-6pm), the Foundation of Light Trustee will lead a discussion on how sport and play can have a positive impact on children's physical and mental wellbeing.
FREE to attend, the event is also a perfect opportunity for headteachers and their staff to find out how the Foundation's expert Education team can support their curriculum in areas such as PE, English, Maths, PSHE, teacher mentoring and extra-curricular clubs through the successful
Premier League Primary Stars programme.
In addition, the Football Association will showcase their holistic approach to children's development through physical activity.
David Dowson, Foundation of Light’s Sport and Play Coordinator, said: “We are very excited to be hosting our Primary Stars Conference at the Beacon of Light which will take an in-depth look at the importance of PE helping pupils lead healthier and more active lifestyles.
“We’re also very grateful to Steve Cram for agreeing to take part and bring his considerable expertise and insight to this event.
Not only is the event ideal for schools to discover more about our Primary Stars delivery, but also a chance to see our coaches in action and hear from our partner schools."
Guests will also be given a comprehensive tour of the Beacon, the £20m community facility which boasts innovative learning areas and classrooms, indoor sports arena and rooftop 7-a-side pitch which are all accessible to schools.
The Primary Stars Schools Conference is sponsored by
Premier Teachers, a Sunderland-based specialist education recruitment company covering the North East and beyond.
