Coaches Academy is your chance to work alongside experienced Sunderland AFC-approved coaches to gain the qualifications, skills and experience you need to pursue a career in sport.

Based at the Stadium of Light and Beacon of Light, the Coaches Academy is a post-16 programme.

Each week, Coaches Academy students can expect to have a varied timetable, with days split between education and placements alongside coach mentors who will support you to become job ready!

Coaches will get the chance to experience a range of placements, such as:

Community Coaching
School PE
Performance Analysis
Physical Performance/Strength & Conditioning
Sports Development

Their progress will be supported by regular reviews with mentors and programme leaders.

Trainees will study a full-time BTEC Level 3 in Sport Coaching and Development under the expert guidance of the Foundation’s Education Officers.

This qualification is the ‘backbone’ of the programme and will give students a broad knowledge of the key areas of coaching and the sports industry.

-FA Football Coaching Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications
-FA Level 1 Introduction to Talent Identification
-FA Playmaker Award
-FA Mini Soccer Referees course
-SLUK Level 2 in Community Sports Leadership Level 2
-Multi-Skills Development in Sport National Citizenship Award ---BTEC Level 3 in Sports Coaching and Development
