‘A Perfect Visit’: DCMO Praises Beacon of Light
Foundation of Light was delighted to welcome Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Jeanelle de Gruchy, to the Beacon of Light, a visit she described as “perfect”.

Joined by partners and service users, the DCMO spent time learning about the innovative, person-centred programmes being delivered across the Beacon of Light, from mental health and employment support to youth engagement and education.

Jeanelle was full of praise for the collaborative approach, calling it ‘a fantastic asset for Sunderland’ and highlighting the powerful impact of its services:

“The commitment of different partners to innovate and collaborate in a person-centred way was impressive. Meeting people and hearing their stories and experiences show the hope and real change that support services can bring. It was also valuable to hear about the challenges young people are facing.”

The visit was a proud moment for all involved and a powerful reminder of the Foundation’s mission, using the power of football to inspire, support and change lives.

Jamie Wright Foundation of Light Managing Director, said: “We’re incredibly proud to showcase the work that goes on every day at the Beacon of Light, not just from the Foundation, but from all our partners. Hearing directly from the people we support is always the most powerful part.

“Their stories remind us why we do what we do, and why collaboration is key to creating real, lasting change in our communities.”

The Beacon continues to shine as a hub of innovation, compassion and community and the Foundation of Light looks forward to building on the positive momentum from the visit.
