Foundation of Light Matchday returns when Sunderland host Brighton
Foundation of Light Matchday returns for the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion, a special occasion celebrating the life-changing work delivered across the North East.
Foundation of Light are pleased to introduce Brew and Banter, a new free social session for armed forces veterans aged 18+.
Delivered in partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, Brew and Banter provides a welcoming space for veterans to enjoy a cuppa and chat, alongside opportunities for low-impact physical activity in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Each session offers a mixture of tailored information and guidance, informal group discussion, and optional activities such as walks, guided exercises, and walking football.
Brew and Banter is designed to support both the physical and mental wellbeing of armed forces veterans, encouraging social interaction alongside exercise.
Sessions will also feature occasional guest speakers from a range of backgrounds, including representatives from the armed forces community and Sunderland AFC.
When and Where
Mondays, 5pm to 7pm – Beacon of Light
Thursdays, 10am to 12pm – The Venue, Stanley
The second Beacon of Light session, on Monday 16 March, will be a special celebratory event marking the official launch of the programme, featuring our first guest speakers, Gary Bennett and Nick Barnes.
Sunderland AFC legend Gary Bennett and long-serving BBC Radio Newcastle commentator Nick Barnes make up the regular radio commentary duo for Black Cats games, and will join us to share stories from their careers and offer behind-the-scenes insight into Sunderland AFC.
