Historic Derby saw North East unite for purpose beyond football

We are thrilled to be hosting our very first Football Courses, Tournaments and Little Dribblers sessions at the Beacon of Light. The facility is truly world class and will certainly give our May Half Term activities the 'wow' factor. There is nowhere like the Beacon anywhere in North East which gives youngsters of all ages and abilities the opportunity to access world-class sports facilities on this scale. We expect demand to be high so recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
David Dowson, Sport and Play CoordinatorThe Foundation is building up to the World Cup early by inviting local clubs and teams aged from Under 7s to Under 10s to take part in the Beacon's FIRST EVER 5-a-side youth football tournament. Held each evening (5.15pm-7.30pm) between Tuesday 29th May and Friday 1st June, teams will be allocated a nation competing at this summer's extravaganza in Russia. Priced at £30, teams are GUARANTEED to play at least three group games. The Foundation's two-day Soccer Course will take place on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th May (10am-3pm), priced at £20 per child. Sessions teach new skills, tricks and techniques and gives youngsters aged 5-14 the chance to try them out in small-sided games and challenges. PLUS, all participants have the chance to win prizes, trophies and medals. For younger children, Little Dribblers is an ideal introduction to football for parents who want to give their kids a healthy and active start in life. The Foundation's Big Day Out is an exciting morning of football coaching with specialist staff and fun activities in the Beacon's state-of-the-art classrooms.
