Foundation of Light announce partnership with Planet League

Foundation of Light are delighted to announce a partnership with Planet League.

Britain's biggest Climate Action Football Campaign kicks off on 10 October, with the Planet League Cup bringing together 76 professional football clubs.

The red and white army will be presented with an opportunity to 'score goals’ for Sunderland AFC's Foundation of Light by completing a range of activities that are beneficial for the planet.

With more than 77,000 climate actions completed by fans already since its inception, Sunderland fans can score goals by completing green activities like having a meat-free meal, using the car less and filling up reusable bottles with tap water. The tournament will run for five weeks, with each week focusing on a particular theme, and the club whose fans take the most action will win the Planet League Cup.

Rich Holmes, head of partnerships at Planet League, said: “We’re delighted that Foundation of Light have joined 75 other football clubs across the country in partnering with us to do their bit to tackle climate change in a fun and impactful way.

“We can’t wait to see how the Sunderland fans and community engage and make an impact in our next competition.”

The Planet League Cup tournament will run from Monday 10 October until Sunday 13 November - we’re calling on the red and white army and members of the community to get involved and help us to the top of the table.
