Sunderland AFC will once again shine a light on its official charity when the Foundation of Light Matchday returns for the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion, a special occasion celebrating the life-changing work delivered across the North East.
The fixture also forms part of the Premier League’s Community Weekend and the wider More Than A Game campaign, recognising the impact that clubs and their charities make in communities across the country.
Supporters heading to the Stadium of Light can expect a full day of activity, with the Beacon of Light Fan Zone, sponsored by ATW - Around The World Tree and Landscaping Specialists, opening from 11:30am to welcome supporters and their families.
ATW, Sunderland’s trusted tree and landscaping specialists, are working with the Foundation of Light to organise a pre-match Fan Zone promising something for everyone.
Young supporters can take part in free football kickabouts on the outdoor pitches, while inside the Beacon there will be a packed programme of sports activities in the indoor arena, alongside face painting, arts and crafts and much more.
Fans will also have the chance to get involved in prize giveaways, fundraising activities and interactive stalls, offering a closer look at how the Foundation uses the power of football to inspire, educate and support people of all ages across the region.
This includes the chance to win a mascot place for a child aged 6-12-years-old via an online prize draw. Hosted on Crowdfunder, supporters can buy entries, starting at £5 for one entry, into a random draw with one lucky winner to be given the opportunity to walk out with the Black Cats ahead of the match.

In the lead-up to the match, Sunderland will come together in support of its charity, with iconic local landmarks lighting up red and white on Friday evening.
From Fulwell Mill and Hylton Castle to Keel Square, the Northern Spire bridge, Penshaw Monument and Seaburn Lighthouse, the city will proudly display its colours in recognition of the Foundation’s impact.
More Than A Game
The Foundation of Light Matchday is more than just a fixture, it’s a celebration of the people, partnerships and programmes that make a difference every day.
As part of the Premier League’s Community Weekend, it highlights how football can be more than a game, driving change through education, improving wellbeing, and creating opportunities for those who need it most.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to get involved, and play their part in supporting the Foundation.
