Black Cats duo support EFL Week of Action with community visit
Foundation of Light PFA Player Ambassador, Aji Alese, and teammate Jenson Seelt marked EFL Week of Action with a visit to the Beacon of Light.
Foundation of Light staff have been upskilling in the Ministry of Food kitchen with the help of Skills Officer Dan Coyne.
Kirsty McFarlane, Melanie Jones, and Wayne Walls completed a one-day cookery course to earn a Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food certificate.
The UK’s food poverty rate is among the highest in Europe, however, understanding how to cook healthy meals on a budget can be an important step for struggling families to live healthier, happier lives.
Dan aimed to provide his colleagues with the knowledge and information to share with students about the importance of preparing home-cooked meals, showing they can be fun, healthy, and delicious.
Kirsty and Wayne have also enrolled onto a level 2 Food Hygiene course, to expand their knowledge further and to allow them to provide food safety and hygiene information to those that they work with.
Working in the Family Learning department, which provides programmes that help parents, grandparents and carers support their child’s development in topics such as healthy cooking, mental health awareness, and staying safe online, Kirsty and Wayne will now be able to be more confident in delivering the correct knowledge and information to families within the community.
