Young people promoting positive mental well-being through the Premier League Inspires Challenge
Young people representing Foundation of Light joined hundreds from across England and Wales in this year’s Premier League Inspires Challenge celebration.
Hundreds of families from Sunderland and County Durham celebrated their learning achievements at a special ceremony at the Beacon of Light.
Parents and youngsters from 30 primary schools attended Foundation of Light’s Family Learning Graduations to celebrate the completion of the 10-week programme.
The award-winning Family Learning course helps adults develop new skills and then improve relationships by taking part in activities with their children. By using the power of football to engage families and inspire learning.
Keith from Houghton-le-Spring who took part in the course with his grandsons Liam and Luke commented: The Family Learning course is great! Last time I was at school was 60 years ago but it brings my life back and helps you to help them with their homework and give them a bit of encouragement with what they’re doing.”
“It’s all changed since we were at school but it benefits me (as well as the grandchildren), I’m getting on in years but it still brings back different things.”
Family Learning is supported by Sunderland City Council FACL; Durham County Council Adult Learning and Skills, Caterpillar, Karbon Homes and livin.“All of the Family Learning team look forward to the Graduations. Seeing so many families overcome challenges, improve their relationship with their child(ren) and learn new skills is such an achievement and rewarding for us to see their progress.”
