Grafton Group continue to pedal and support
Merchanting, DIY retailing and mortar manufacturing business Grafton Group plc is backing the Foundation’s International Cycle Challenge for the seventh consecutive year. The Dublin-based company's CEO, Gavin Slark, will also take on the 250 mile Croatian Coastal Challenge this summer alongside his executive team and 30 cyclists, having previously cycled over 1,800 miles to raise money for the Foundation of Light. For Foundation Ambassador Gavin and his colleagues, the challenge will be another landmark on a journey which started in 2011 and has so far covered seven countries.
Grafton have helped us select this year’s route which has proved to be very popular. They provide us with financial support and without it, we wouldn’t be able to do challenges like this. Every year when the challenge is over, the first question that gets asked is 'where to next year?' For me they are so much more than sponsors, they get heavily involved organising and putting a team into the challenge.
Jemma Garrett, Foundation of Light Events Manager
The challenges have become a popular fixture on the Foundation's calendar of events, seeing riders take on unique and memorable cycling routes. Limited places are available for riders to join us for four days of cycling through stunning scenery along the coast, valleys and high up in the mountains. The route will mostly be on quiet country roads but each day will offer variety. A deposit of £250 and a fundraising pledge of £1,400 is required. Included is the use of a mechanic, support vehicles, accommodation, transport (flights and transfers), food and drink (no alcohol), celebration dinner, bespoke cycle jersey and cap, and a bike check.
