Hundreds raised through lockdown challenge

Hundreds raised through lockdown challenge
Youngsters on the Foundation of Light’s football programmes have helped raise hundreds of pounds for SAFC’s official charity during lockdown. With not being able to train, players from the Foundation’s Community Clubs and Development Centre sides channelled their energy into raising money for a cause close to their hearts. They encouraged people - kids, parents – everyone, to run, walk or cycle 20 miles during lockdown and donate £20 to the Foundation of Light. The Fit for FoL Facebook group was born and saw scores of supporters walking, biking and running; motivating each other to stay active during lockdown. One family benefitting from the Fit for FoL initiative was the Coulsons: “Thanks for the motivation during this lockdown. We have walked, ran, sledged and had fun!” Regan Carter completed 67 miles during the six-week challenge, raising £75. His mam Leanne admitted as much as he enjoyed the challenge and it kept him entertained, he couldn’t wait to get back to football! Donations can still be made via JustGiving there will be more Fit for FoL challenges to look forward to as the summer approaches, if you’d like to keep up to date join the Fit For FoL Facebook group.
