Liz Barton-Jones, Head of Sport and WellbeingKicking off on 31st May and played over 14 weeks, players will be put into teams and will battle against each other in a local league every Wednesday evening at the Beacon of Light, Sunderland’s newest sports, events, health and education venue which includes a 4G indoor rooftop football barn capable of hosting a 7-a-side and 5-a-side games, a versatile indoor arena and six outdoor 5-a-side 3G pitches as well as classrooms, offices and informal learning spaces. Each league is made up of 10 teams, with games 30 minutes long and featuring eight players per side. Depending on pounds lost by the players, bonus points will be awarded and added to the match score.
