Foundation of Light introduces transformational place-based football academy at Consett AFC
The pioneering academy, based at the football club’s Belle View Stadium, aims to remove long-standing barriers to education and high-performance coaching.
Foundation of Light are excited to introduce a new partnership with Northern Premier League club Consett AFC, creating a clear pathway for male football scholarship players.
The football scholarship programme, delivered alongside the ‘outstanding’ rated Sunderland College, gives young players the chance to combine football development with education.
Supporting dual-career pathways, this new partnership with a club playing at the fourth step of non-league gives players a direct route into semi-professional football.
The scholarship offers young footballers up to 10 hours of training per week alongside games in a national football league while studying for a Level 3 BTEC in Sports Coaching.
Players are also supported with strength and conditioning programmes, access to sports physiotherapy, and match analysis.
Foundation of Light will host open training sessions during the Easter half-term for male players currently in Year 11.
