Parth Patwardhan’s journey into employment thanks to the Foundation of Light is a demonstration of how tailored and person-centred support can change an individual’s outcomes.
Employability Coach, Anthony Parkinson, met Parth at an automotive careers fair in South Shields.
During this initial contact, Anthony could tell that he was meeting a qualified, capable, and highly motivated jobseeker.
Parth had initially come to the UK to study engineering at university, but he lacked a clear pathway into the automotive industry.
“The first time we met, we exchanged my CV and contact number. I told Anth what I wanted to do, to get into work. I just wanted a starting point,” Parth explained about his predicament at the time.
Parth was invited to a follow-up session at the Beacon of Light where he was given personalised support, including application preparation with Employability Coach, Ian Dipper, tailored to Nissan recruitment protocols.
Ian then designed a series of problem-solving and teamwork challenges to strengthen ‘soft skills’ that are highly valued by employers.
Parth completed his application to Nissan and was invited to a two-week bootcamp where he took part in introduction classes and was successful in a line trial and a formal interview.
Having come to the Foundation of Light struggling for a pathway into the industry, Parth was invited to work at Nissan and has now settled into his new role.
“I truly appreciate the opportunity and support the team have given me throughout this process. It played a key role in helping me take this step forward,” Parth added on securing his new role.
