Red & White: Summer Sports Fun

Red & White: Summer Sports Fun
First published in Red & White (Sunderland AFC v Scunthorpe United). Youngsters have been making the most of Foundation of Light’s holiday clubs and with two weeks of the summer break remaining there’s still time to get involved. So far, we’ve enjoyed courses in Sunderland, Durham and Cumbria with youngsters aged from 3 years upwards. For the first-time summer soccer coaching has been delivered at the brand new, state-of-the-art Beacon of Light which has also hosted dance classes and a multi-sports course where youngsters enjoyed athletics, badminton, basketball, dodgeball, golf, rugby and table tennis. The Little Dribblers Holiday Club has offered day care for youngsters aged 3-8 years with craft, sports and games activities taking place 8.30am-4.30pm at the Beacon.
There are two weeks of the holidays left we’ve got plenty of activities to get involved with that are ideal for getting your children up, active and having fun! We’re looking forward to seeing lots of familiar and new faces as we round off the holidays.
David Dowson, Sport and Play Coordinator
As well as the broad range of activities, Foundation of Light will be hosting under 9 and under 10 5-a-side football tournaments, ideal for junior teams who are looking for extra games.
