SAFC Milk Cup Heroes reunite for 40th Anniversary Celebration
Black Cats fans are in for a nostalgic treat as Sunderland celebrates the 40th anniversary of their remarkable run to the Milk Cup final in 1985.
Nushrath Begum’s development within the Foundation of Light’s Study Programme has prepared her for the World of Work.
The 18-year-old made a big impression throughout her time on the course, not only as a highly engaged student in the classroom, but also as a positive influence on her classmates.
Nusrath joined Level 1 Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism with the Study Programme to build her confidence and work towards a career in hospitality. She joined after a seven-month spell out of studying or work.
The 18-year-old has excelled in her approach to the course, taking part with enthusiasm and remaining motivated to get qualified and carve out a career.
Her passion for the subject has been shared with her fellow Study Programme learners.
Nusrath wanted to introduce her fellow learners to something from her family background and asked if she could teach a dish from her culture in a cookery lesson. Her course tutor, Dan Coyne, arranged to buy some ingredients and Nushrath prepared a PowerPoint and delivered a session detailing how to make vegetable pakoras.
Nushrath’s confidence shone throughout in the way she was able to take the lead in teaching a session to her peers.
Her friendly and encouraging nature made a big impression on her classmates, who embraced the opportunity to learn about Nushrath’s culture, and her positive attitude has continued to stand her in good stead.
Upon completing her Study Programme course, Nushrath earned a full-time apprenticeship as a Youth Support Worker.
Nushrath cites the confidence and resilience that she has learned at the Foundation of Light as big factors to her success in the apprenticeship.
