SAFC Milk Cup Heroes reunite for 40th Anniversary Celebration
Black Cats fans are in for a nostalgic treat as Sunderland celebrates the 40th anniversary of their remarkable run to the Milk Cup final in 1985.
Our ever-popular Summer at the Beacon six-week programme returns on Monday 25 July and it’s bigger and better than ever before.
Despite the programme going ahead in 2021, this will be the first time in two years Summer at the Beacon has took place without any Covid-19 restrictions. The programme boasts new and exciting activities, with something on offer to people of all ages, suiting a wide-range of interests.
The six-weeks holidays can often prove to be a difficult time for families and young people alike, with children feeling socially isolated when absent from friends or disengaged in daily life when they’re not engaging in the activities they know and love.
This is where we step in. Sunderland AFC’s official charity has you covered this summer. Listed below are just some of the activities happening at the Beacon of Light until 2 September.
Speaking about the Summer at the Beacon campaign, Foundation of Light Managing Director, Jamie Wright said: “Summer at the Beacon is an incredibly popular event in Sunderland and we’re super excited to welcome hundreds of people through the doors at the Beacon of Light.
“This is a very important event to us here at the Foundation and we are determined to make it an unforgettable experience to everyone who attends.”
Over the last 20 years, Foundation of Light have supported over half a million people to live happier and healthier lives. By taking part in activities at the Beacon, you’re supporting your local community – proceeds from the Beacon are passed to the Foundation to improve local lives throughout the community.
The Beacon of Light will also be hosting a FREE ‘FoL Community Fun Day’ on 11 August, from 10am – 3pm. Once again, various activities will be on offer meaning families will be entertained at the ultimate community hub. All you have to do is turn up and have fun.
Some special guests may also be in attendance – watch this space!
