Time to learn at a Skills Open Day
Sunderland AFC’s official charity the Foundation of Light is hosting a Skills Open Day at the Beacon of Light this week, showcasing a wide range of training support available for job seekers, at the award-winning facility. Taking place on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th January, between 10am-12 noon and 1-3pm, the drop-in sessions will give those looking for work, or are interested in re-training, the opportunity to learn about the range of FREE skills courses on offer to adults aged 19+. The award-winning employability courses are renowned for their success and have helped more than 76% of participants progress into employment, education or further training. All classes and training will be delivered within the Beacon of Light’s World of Work zone, and participants can gain qualifications in a range of subjects including health and social care, hospitality, English, maths, engineering and manufacturing, ICT, retail, business administration, customer service, sport and personal social development. Learners are also offered the opportunity to be supported in their job search by the Foundation’s skilled staff.
We have extended our portfolio of accredited courses we are now able to deliver.  This open day will help people get closer to the career they want or help them brush up on existing skills. I would encourage anyone who is looking for work or considering a change in career to come along to the Beacon and chat to us about how we can help.
Linda Hughes, Head of Skills at the Foundation of Light
On 16th and 17th January, people interested in achieving new qualifications can meet tutors, see the facilities and learn about the Foundation’s partnerships with local employers, which help people get into employment.
Booking and pre-registration for the open days are not necessary, but if you would like further information contact Amy Jaroszkiewicz on 0191 563 4777 or email amy.jaroszkiewicz@foundationoflight.co.uk
