The Foundation of Light created a matchday experience to remember on Saturday as young people and adults from our football disability programmes engaged in a range of half-time activities at the Stadium of Light.
Young people from our Disability Multisports programme and adults from our Every Player Counts programme participated in various activities during the interval of Sunderland’s 1-0 win over Gillingham.
Thanks to support from the EFL Trust and Children in Need, our disability coaching team deliver fun, exciting and challenging sessions and activities which help develop gross motor skills, balance and coordination as well as encouraging teamwork, communication and confidence.
On a memorable day for the Foundation of Light where we joined forces with Sunderland AFC as part of the ‘Foundation of Light Matchday’, the young people of our Disability Multisports programme graced the Stadium of Light pitch engaging in various activities involving bean bags and hula hoops.
Adults from our Every Player Counts programme also showcased their football skills to the crowd, with a game of walking football.
We offer a wide range of disability programmes to ensure young people and adults across the North East can enjoy sport, an active lifestyle and build friendships.
