The Coaches’ Coffee Club podcast has returned with a bumper episode discussing coaching in the Foundation Phase.
Host Jack Gray will be joined by fellow Foundation of Light and guest coaches for a monthly discussion about their experiences and advice on a range of coaching topics.
The Coffee Club relaunches with Foundation coaches Wayne Walls, Ian Dipper, and Jamie Wright appearing to talk all things Foundation Phase.
Within the topic, the group touches upon the importance of appropriate and relatable language, the merits of a game-based approach to coaching, what they feel a matchday should look like at the Foundation Phase, and the best advice that they have received.
Foundation of Light Deputy CEO, Jamie Wright, shared his beliefs on Foundation Phase coaching on the podcast, saying: “It’s not just about winning a game on the weekend, it’s much more than that.
“You might not see the benefits of the work you put in, but another coach further down the line might get the benefits of the work you’re doing now.”
The Coffee Club also reveal the best player that they have coached, with some interesting names mentioned, including England internationals and Sunderland AFC first-team players.
A group of students from the Foundation of Light’s scholarship and study programmes were given a unique opportunity to visit Japan thanks to funding from the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation.
