Wear 25: Young footballer Isla Cameron earns England Deaf Futsal call-up
Foundation of Light has recognised Isla Cameron as one of its Wear 25 award winners, following her call-up to the England U13s Deaf Futsal team.
Foundation of Light, the official charity of Sunderland AFC, has made significant savings on energy costs thanks to a new partnership with Sunderland-based energy broker, Utilink Consulting.
Utilink, also a regional partner of Sunderland AFC, was selected over other consultancies after identifying a bespoke solution that included fixed agreements which have safeguarded the Foundation against energy market disruption.
The deal has already delivered significant community value to the Foundation through savings and sponsorship, and marks the beginning of what both organisations hope will be a long-standing partnership.
As part of the partnership, Utilink will use spaces at the Beacon of Light for staff training days and meetings, as well as supporting the Foundation’s Easter egg donation initiative alongside Stagecoach, with donations set to be distributed to children, young people and families supported by the charity.
Based at Sunderland Enterprise Park, Utilink helps businesses review their energy supply, waste management and water procurement, helping them save money and time while monitoring their carbon footprint.
Clare Wilson, Foundation of Light’s Chief Commercial and Fundraising Officer, praised Utilink’s service: “The expertise of the Utilink team has been invaluable to Foundation of Light as we navigated arranging new deals for our energy supplies. Every penny saved ensures we can invest more into our vital services to improve lives across the region, and to strike up a new partnership with a Sunderland-based organisation is an added bonus.”
Sam Riches, CEO of Utilink, added: “We’re delighted to support the Foundation of Light and to have played a part in reviewing and improving their energy services across gas and electricity. Through this work we’ve been able to help identify meaningful savings while also strengthening our wider relationship with the Foundation and the important initiatives they deliver in our community.
“As a local business and proud regional sponsor of Sunderland AFC, this partnership means a great deal to us. We’re excited to continue working closely with the Foundation of Light to support the incredible work they do in helping local people access opportunities and support across the region.”
