Foundation of Light is offering school pupils an opportunity to take part in a newly launched
Futsal Academy.
Suitable for boys and girls aged 9-16, the academy is designed to develop and produce players will compete in local leagues and where possible, festivals and events further afield.
Since the launch of Futsal Scholarship for school leavers two years ago, the Academy will give school pupils a chance to get involved in the fast paced, technical game with a pathway for them to join the scholarship programme when they leave school.
Ian Dipper, Futsal and Coaches Academy Coordinator at the Foundation of Light said: “We started offering Futsal sessions and it proved very popular. We (Foundation of Light) are the only organisation in the North East to be able to offer an academy and scholarship opportunities.
By offering a pathway, we give youngsters a learning environment for them to learn new skills that they can develop and progress in a sport which suits their technical and tactical strengths
Training takes place one hour a week at the home of Futsal, the Beacon of Light and runs September to July.
The Futsal Academy age groups are U9 to U16 (School Year 4 -11) whilst our two year Futsal Scholarship is designed for students who have left school (school year 12 & 13) all based at the award-winning
Beacon of Light.
If you would like to try futsal,
