Learners in the driving seat
Our first cohort of the season of ‘Back in the Game’ learners, kicked off their first week, with hands on learning. The 10-week employability programme supports adults over the age of 19 and gives them the opportunity to gain qualifications, work experience and employment. Learners entered the Nissan Engineering zone, within the award-winning Beacon of Light and gained valuable experience for those wanting to move into the automotive industry. Adam, ‘Back in the Game’ course participant said: “I have really enjoyed my first week here.  I wasn’t aware there was a Nissan zone and it’s been great going in and sampling some of the jobs that you can expect to do within the automotive industry.” The programme has helped more than 76% of learners into employment or further training since launch. Earlier this year, online courses were announced to help people gain qualifications during lockdown and these are still available, with the benefit of obtaining a Level 1 qualification.
