Special guests announced for Foundations' Race Day

A host of special guests from the worlds of sport, media and entertainment have been confirmed for Foundation of Light and Sir Bobby Robson Foundation's Race Day.

On Thursday 19th October Newcastle Racecourse will welcome the return of the annual charity favourite, with North East football legends Steve Harper, Jimmy Montgomery and Kevin Ball alongside George Caulkin from The Times on hand to cast their expert opinions over everything Newcastle United and Sunderland AFC.

The quartet will be joined by stars of the critically acclaimed production The Red Lion, including Stephen Tompkinson, John Bowler and Dean Bone, as well as Newcastle Live Theatre Artistic Director Max Roberts.

We are delighted to welcome such a stellar line up to our annual Race Day. Every North East football fan knows of Steve, Jimmy, Kevin and George but for our guests to have the chance of meeting a household name such as Stephen Tompkinson takes the Foundations' Race Day to another level. The mix of horse racing, football and entertainment ensures there is something for everyone with this year's event promising to be the most successful yet.
Jemma Garrett, Foundation of Light's Events Manager

Well known for his TV appearances in Ballykissangel, Wild at Heart and as DCI Banks, Stockton-born Tompkinson will talk about his career on stage and screen, as well as his love for the Black Cats and Magpies' North East rivals, Middlesbrough.

John Bowler started his career in the film Ha'way the Lads playing SAFC footballer Jimmy Seed before featuring in Auf Wiedersehen Pet, The Bill, EastEnders and Coronation Street.

Up and coming actor Dean Bone has had lead roles in plays The Savage and The Terminal Velocity of Snowflakes and recently starred in CBBC's WolfBlood and crime-drama Vera.

Tickets for the Foundations' Race Day are available for just £100 (including VAT) per person or £895 (including VAT) for a table of 10. Last year’s Race Day held between the two charities raised over £10,000 to support their work in the region.

Guests will enjoy Premier Admission to the Gosforth Park Suite, a three-course lunch, race card and the chance to win a host of prizes.

The event is supported by Seaham-based Great Annual Savings Group which has helped thousands of companies save money on their running costs.
