Stadium to host football scouting course

The home of Sunderland AFC will host a unique training course which provides learners with the essential skills required to become a professional football scout.

Foundation of Light has teamed up with the International Professional Scouting Organisation (IPSO) to deliver their Level 1 Foundation Skills in Professional Scouting at the Stadium of Light.

During the two-day course, on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April, delegates will be given a unique insight into player and team analysis through a series of lectures and a practical test, using the Black Cats' Premier League clash with West Ham United as a live exam.

Kamil Potrykus, Managing Director at IPSO, said: "Following the constantly changing trends, technology development and improvement of training methods in football, we developed our own scouting program.

Our aim during these courses is to introduce innovative training for current and future scouts, and give participants an insight into both the theoretical and practical aspects of analysis and scouting.

"We cooperate with many professional clubs and each course is full of VIP guests from every part of the world who come to share their experience and knowledge. This provides amazing added value for participants which will help them to evolve, broaden their networking and develop their own careers."

Previous courses have been attended by Academy and recruitment staff from clubs such as Premier League champions Leicester City, Hull City, Barnsley, FC Porto and Panathinaikos.

Developed by experienced scouts and education specialists, the programme is relevant for anyone who likes football or sport, wants to increase their knowledge and as CPD for those already working as coaches, scouts or within the media.

Graduates have gone on to work at professional football clubs; within sports departments at colleges and universities; in media and journalism; and at sports management companies.
