Sunderland Schools compete for Wembley place
More than 240 youngsters from 30 schools will take part in the Sunderland heat of the EFL Kids Cup, organised and hosted by SAFC charity Foundation of Light and supported by the EFL Trust. Taking place at Silksworth Sports Complex on Wednesday 16th January, the winners will have a chance to represent Sunderland AFC in the regional finals at Leeds United's Elland Road in March with the opportunity to play before one of the Sky Bet EFL Play-Off Finals at Wembley Stadium in May. Each EFL club organises a Kids Cup local competition for all local schools wishing to take part. The winners of that competition then go on to represent the club in the Area, Regional and National phases of the competition, where they will face schools representing other League clubs.
