Foundation of Light are aiming to inspire and develop the next generation of female coaches through our Volunteer Coach Development programme. 

The programme will offer learning and mentorship, supplemented by voluntary work experience, as up and coming female coaches work towards recognised coaching qualifications.

Further employment opportunities with the Foundation of Light may be available for those who progress through the programme. 

Programme Structure

Mentorship and Development

• Six individualised mentorship meetings (once every 8 weeks)
• Four coaching observations per year
• Individual development plan
• Self-assessment, goal-setting, and feedback
• CPD and work-based learning records
• Informal coaching masterclasses and CPD workshops
• Work towards recognised FA qualifications (listed below)

Coaching Experience

Participants will take part in volunteer placements within Foundation of Light programmes - which will give them the chance to apply their learning, work alongside experienced coaches, and gain evidence for their qualifications.

• Sunderland Emerging Talent Centre - One coaching session per week. 
• Sunderland AFC Girls' Academy - Minimum of one coaching session per week and support on matchday. 

There will be an opportunity to rotate between the different programmes.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have access to the following qualifications*:

• FA Playmaker
• FA Level 1
• UEFA C
• FA Safeguarding
• FA Emergency Aid

*Please note: candidates not completing the required level of volunteer hours will be liable to pay back the cost of the training that they have received.
