Working with partners across Sunderland, South Tyneside and County Durham we have a wide range of programmes that aim to tackle poor physical and mental health and the North East's lower than average life expectancy.

Coals to Goals

Thanks to support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, we're bringing the history of Sunderland AFC to life by capturing living memories, creating a walking trail around Stadium Park and running community engagement activities

Ha'way and Weigh

A new healthy lifestyle programme for men and women focusing on long-term improvements in physical and mental wellbeing, weight loss and diet.

Game of II Halves

Our dedicated mental health and wellbeing programme which aims to improve mental health across the region. Delivered in Sunderland, South Tyneside and Northumberland, the free scheme is for men aged 25-69 and women aged 41-50 to promote good mental health and suicide prevention messages.

Wear Together

Wear Together is for anyone aged 55 and over. Come along and meet new friends while you take part in fun and friendly activities.

Based in the Beacon of Light we support over 80 people to enjoy coffee mornings, quizzes and bingo, or gentle sport and exercise.

Activities funded by GOGA

Foundation of Light runs several FREE activity sessions across South Tyneside with the help of our partners Get Out Get Active. GOGA supports disabled and non-disabled people to enjoy being active together through fun and inclusive activities.

Kick The Habit

The Foundation alongside SAFC, has teamed up with the Sunderland Specialist Stop Smoking Service to support ‘Kick the Habit’

A campaign to help local residents give up smoking for good.

Veterans Football

Veterans Football

Weekly football session on the 3G pitches at the Beacon of Light in partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant Trust and Veterans Foundation. Sessions are open to all veterans regardless of age, ability, or length of service.

Get Out Get Active

Get Out, Get Active (GOGA) supports disabled and non-disabled people enjoy being active together. It is made possible by founding funder Spirit of 2012 and additional investment from Sport England and the London Marathon Charitable Trust.
